Olajumoke Adenowo was a gifted child from the start. She was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, to professor parents and spent a significant part of her childhood on the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife campus. Then admitted to Obafemi Awolowo University at the age of 14 to pursue a degree in architecture.
She graduated at 19 with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Architecture. She received the award for Best Student Design as an undergraduate. In 1991, she received her Master of Science in Architecture with honors from the same university.
At 25, she set up her architecture firm AD Consulting and in 1991 International Biographical Centre list named her among the “Who Will Be Who in the 21st-century.” Since its establishment, AD Consulting has worked on the design and construction of over 70 projects with clients including Coca-Cola and L’Oreal.
Mrs. Adenowo is regarded as one of the world’s best architects, and CNN called her a “Starchitect.” She holds degrees from the Harvard Business School, MIT, Yale School of Management, IESE Business School, Barcelona, Spain, and the Lagos Business School.
Olajumoke Adenowo is a transnational architect and one of the extraordinary women worthy of distinction, given her passion and contribution to Nigeria outside of the construction industry.
